Course Details
- Reference to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Safety precautions. Fire and explosion hazards. Safety data sheets.
- Main safety features for Oxy-acetylene trolley.
- Detailed explanation of all component parts used for O/A equipment.
- Purpose of Flash Back Arrestors/Cut off valves and operation of Gauges.
- Safety Notice –Acetylene cylinders in fires & Data tables.
- Short safety film.
Duration - Approximately 5 hours depending upon practical requirements.
Student Participation
- Assembly of equipment.
- Lighting up and closing down procedure.
- Cutting/Welding practice as required on 6mm thick plate.
- Cover all safety precautions as required.
Certification - Certificate issued on Course completion.
Location - Classroom type accommodation for technology transfer and workshop facilities for the practical session.
Duration - Approximately 4 hours depending upon practical requirements.

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations that all persons who use oxy-fuel gas equipment have adequate training in: the safe use of the equipment; the precautions to be taken; the use of fire extinguishers; the means of escape, raising the fire alarm and calling the fire brigade.
