HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING The Health & Safety elements for each Welding Course will be covered in detail and will be specific to each Welding Process. The following is a list of Elements covered. Ø Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Covers the range of safety wear that the specific job in hand requires to cover Health & Safety requirements. Ø Welding Bay requirements for: · Correct earthing of electrical equipment. · Condition of Welding Power Sources and welding leads for good electrical and mechanical contact. · Fume extraction at the point of welding. General extraction for the removal of Ozone in TIG welding. · Welding helmet filtered fresh air supply. · Safe welding practice to ensure reduced risk to flammable material from welding sparks and hot metal. Ø Measurement of noise levels and hearing protection. Ø Use of Abrasive wheels - this is covered in the Abrasive Wheels Course. Ø Gas Cylinders – Colour identification and specific safety data sheets for gases used in a particular process. Ø Risk assessments and Method statements. |
