OXY/ACETYLENE WELDING EQUIPMENT SAFETY COURSE

DETAILS

Course Content - With Reference to British Compressed Gasses Association (B C G A) Revised Code of Practice CP7 (1994) on the safe use of Oxy-Acetylene equipment.  Health & Safety Executive INDG 297: Safety in Gas Welding & Cutting.  HSE Safety Booklet No: 50 Welding and Flame Cutting using Compressed Gases.

Course Details  

Ø      Reference to the Health & Safety at Work Act.

Ø      Safety precautions.  Fire and explosion hazards.  Safety data sheets.

Ø      Main safety features for Oxy-acetylene trolley.

Ø      Detailed explanation of all component parts used for O/A equipment.

Ø      Purpose of Flash Back Arrestors/Cut off valves and operation of Gauges.

Ø      Safety Notice –Acetylene cylinders in fires & Data tables.

Student Participation

q       Assembly of equipment.

q       Lighting up and closing down procedure.

q       Cutting/Welding practice as required on 6mm thick plate.

q       Cover all safety precautions as required.

Certification - Certificate issued on Course completion

Location - Classroom type accommodation for technology transfer and workshop facilities for the practical session.

Duration - Approximately 4 hours depending upon practical requirements.

Dates - To suit your Work schedule 

Numbers - Ideal 4-6 persons for practical sessions.

Costs Price on application - includes Course Booklet, Safety Data Sheets and Course Certification with ID.

   Travel expenses at £0.40p per mile.  (Minimum number 4)

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations that all persons who use oxy-fuel gas equipment have adequate training in: the safe use of the equipment; the precautions to be taken; the use of fire extinguishers; the means of escape, raising the fire alarm and calling the fire brigade.
